Stranded Starfish

As he got closer, he saw that it was a young boy, and the young boy wasn't dancing. Instead, he was reaching down to the shore, picking up a starfish, and very gently throwing it into the ocean.
"Why are you doing this?" the hotel guest asked the boy
The boy replied: "The sun is up and the tide is going out. If i don't throw them in they'll die."
"But there are miles and miles of beach, and tens of thousands of starfish here. You can't possibly make a difference," the hotel guest said.
The young boy listened politely. Then he bent down, picked up another starfish, and as he was throwing it back into the ocean, said: "It makes a difference to this one."
Each one of us has been gifted with the ability to make a difference. If we can become aware of that gift we have the power to shape the future.
