Learning to Walk in Handanese way

December 21st 2006 18:33
chinese city
There was once a little boy who went to the city of Handan to learn how to walk like the people there. Their way of walking is absolutely different, that not only did he not learn how to walk their style, he forgot how to walk altogether! So he had to crawl home.

---
The farther we step outwards ourselves , the farther we are from the essence of truth. Not few of us got lost and even forgot how to live in our true nature. Therefore search within and you will find all.

Hey, cute little story!

It makes me want to reflect on it further, and I think that might be a trademark of all good stories.

I dunno if the true self is discovered within though. I don't think there's ANY true self. I think there's a different self in every circumstance in which you find yourself. So the self is found in action, in engagement with the world, and there's nothing inside worth looking at.
