A Smile of a Life Saver

December 23rd 2006 15:00
smile
There was a guy who of a certain failure in his life decided to end his own life. He started a long journey along the city towards a bridge from where he intended to leap from. But he promised himself that if he met somebody who smile, happy and is friendly along the way, he would reconsider his plan.

Not long later, he noticed a man was walking towards him. When the man got near, he just smiled at him, as if he knew what was running inside his mind.
He cancelled his suicide plan, and decided to carry on his life bravely. Since then, he promised that he would always smile to anybody he meet.

Hi ~

I really ike this story. However, many of my smiling experiences seem to be taken not as a smile but with skepticism; i'm laughing at another; i'm a lonely puppy; or i'm trying to hit on the person, are some negative examples.

Then again my social skills are poor - perhaps i need to tone down the smile, or shorten my eye contact - I would want to be there for another if they were contemplating completion. Thanks for reminding me of what is important.

Hello de cairns!
Thanks for sharing your own personal experience with us ^_^
Yes, many of us are oppressed from smiling really naturally by our environment. They might think that we are insane, be suspicious about us, etc.
However, if we are really sincere, the real things will be unfolded before them eventually, it would just be matter of time.
People might be suspicious at first, but as they began to notice our good intention, they would be drawn to us in positive ways.

Dear brother, a smile lightens up the world. From a single candle, a thousand candle can be lit.
Let's be a warrior of the light!!!
